It’s a new week in the Football Transfer Tavern and that means a new batch of transfer rumours to get our teeth into. Today starts with news emerging from Mirror Football that Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas is being watched by Chelsea and Reading with a view to a January swoop.
The 25-year-old Spaniard has a release clause that stands at around £8 million and he is being tipped as the next bargain buy from Spain.
The struggling La Liga side are keen to keep Aspas until the summer at least as they look to stave off relegation but it appears that English sides are prepared to test their resolve with Swansea City also thought to be interested.
Chelsea scouts watched the forward during Celta’s 2-0 defeat to Espanyol yesterday and while the hitman, who has eight goals already this season, wasn’t at the top of his game, he still impressed watching onlookers including the Blues experts.
The 25-year-old striker could represent the next value for money export from La Liga after the incredible success of £2 million Swansea City star Michu and Celta may be forced to sell to help pay off some of their outstanding debts.
