Jose Mourinho has strong words for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as the Daily Mail report his claims that Barcelona have no chance of netting defender David Luiz this summer.
The Brazilian has been on the radar of both the Catalan giants and also Bayern Munich this summer and despite initial reports noting that Mourinho did not want to keep the defender at the club, it now seems the Special One sees something in Luiz that he wants to work with.
When speaking to BT Sport, Mourinho noted about his potential departure: “No chance he is going to leave. He is a player we want to keep. He is a player with four years (on his) contract, he just signed a contract last year.
“We like him. He is an important player and the club is not ready to sell him for any price.”
Clearly Mourinho has made it clear that in his mind, Luiz is perfect for Chelsea, yet rumours still persist that the player wants out of the club and has asked to join Barcelona. In response to that claim, Mourinho was typically bullish and stated: “I don’t know if he said that. What I can say is that he is not going to.
“The last quotes I read were Luiz saying he is not speaking about clubs when he is with the national team, which is a fantastic quote that I appreciate. That is the last quote I have and it is an intelligent one.”
