falcao.jpgOne of the tried and tested rumours here in the Football Transfer Tavern and one that has been in the Daily Star today is the Radamel Falcao to Chelsea rumour.

The publication have claimed that Chelsea have just gained momentum in the race for the forward who is also being tracked by Manchester City and Real Madrid. It had been claimed that the Colombian was set to join Real Madrid after a ‘deal’ was reached with Florentino Perez. Clearly this was not the case and now Chelsea seem to be leading the race.

The 27-year-old has been watched in nearly every game by Chelsea and the club are looking to really ramp up discussions in order to land him. Given that they can more than afford the £40 million asking fee and would even be able to offer Fernando Torres or Theo Courtois as part of any deal it is easy to see why the club are so confident in their pursuit.

Of course should the club fail to land Falcao they may well turn their attentions to Edinson Cavani who is the second most wanted man in football this summer.

Are Chelsea really leading the race for Falcao’s signature? Rate this rumour below.
