Chelsea line up Portuguese international?

pepe.jpgThere is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by Football Friends Online that Real Madrid defender Pepe could well follow Jose Mourinho to England.

The defender has created even more controversy at the Spanish side than his manager in the six years he has been at the club and now it seems that Los Blancos are set to offload him.

Pepe of course has found himself benched by Mourinho after he criticised the way the manager dropped Iker Casillas and claimed ‘more respect’ should’ve been shown to the club skipper. Despite this Mourinho knows that Pepe is one of his strongest allies with Chelsea keen to sign another centre half with John Terry and David Luiz’ future both in doubt but for very different reasons.

Real Madrid are also attempting to raise cash for the acquisition of number one target Gareth Bale and see the sale of Pepe who is rated at around £20 million as a good way to begin to do this. The club are keen to rebuild what they see is a tarnished image and clearly both Mourinho and Pepe are seen as detrimental to that effort.

Will Pepe really follow Mourinho to West London? Rate this rumour below.
