Chelsea look to hijack deal for Liverpool target
Here at the Football Transfer Tavern there is banter amongst fans of red and blue after it has been claimed in the Daily Mail that Chelsea are after a young wonderkid and would steal him right from under the noses of Liverpool.
The club have been alerted to the talent of 18-year-old Daniel Carr who currently plies his trade for non-league outfit Dulwich Hamlet and is one of the hottest talents around playing at this level. He has been at Melwood this week and had been aiming to convince Liverpool to sign him up on a professional deal. Now however Chelsea have swooped in to potentially steal the player and add him to their books.
Chelsea however face tough competition to land the young striker with 14 clubs reportedly interested in him – including both Manchester City and Manchester United. The Blues have invited him to train at Cobham and have entered talks with Ryman South Division One outfit.
Given that 23 goals have been banged in by Carr this season alone, it has placed him firmly on the radar of a host of clubs, yet it has been claimed that the youngster has not decided where his future will lie yet and is more focused on playing first team football.
His current manager claimed he was cautious that the player did not get caught up in the ‘circus’ that was surrounding him at the moment with his development the most important factor right now.
