There are a couple of worried faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern after Metro claimed that Chelsea midfielder Ramires could well be having doubts over his Blues future.
It had seemed to us that the one player who could well be leaving the Blues was Juan Mata, who of course has been linked with a move away from the club since Jose Mourinho returned.
Now however, our landlord informs us that we could well be set to see another Blues star depart, with Ramires noting that his future may not necessarily lie with Chelsea.
Our Blues fans need not reach for the tequila straight away however, as Metro make it clear that Ramires is talking long-term – admitting he would like to return to former club Benfica someday.
The Brazilian noted that: “Football is full of surprises and I would like to return one day.
“Benfica have a great team with a great history, a great manager. They have only been lacking titles recently.
“I’ve still got a tremendous amount of affection for Benfica, not just because they opened the door to Europe for me but because of all the things I experienced there, how they welcomed me and how well everything turned out. I can only thank the club.”
As one of our punters who does not have a mouth full of the house special burger notes, it is understandable for a player to want to return to where he started eventually – and given Ramires is 26, he certainly has time on his side for now!
