The defender turned midfielder has often been linked with the Catalan giants who are thought to be long-term fans of the player and despite having limited funds to spend this summer especially after buying Santos star Neymar, Barcelona are still reportedly pushing to land Luiz.

The player himself is currently in the dark over his future and has claimed he is focusing on Chelsea for the time being. He noted: “My objective is to be happy and this is possible playing always in a team that controls the ball.

“Barcelona is the team that has developed the best football in the last few years.

“I know Barca were interested in my services in the past but now I do not have any news.”

As many of our punters have remarked, there have already been links claiming that incoming manager Jose Mourinho was not the biggest fan of the player and was indeed willing to sell the defender should the right offer come to pass and now it seems that an offer could well be on the table – leading our punters to think Luiz knows more than he is letting on.

Will Mourinho show Luiz the exit door? Is Luiz too cavalier a player for Mourinho’s style? Let us know your thoughts below.
