There’s a little bit of a stir amongst the punters in the Football Transfer Tavern this afternoon, and Chelsea fans are even putting down their pints and looking up from the pool table as its reported by Matt Fortune of the Daily Mail that Hulk may be looking for a way out of Zenit Saint Petersburg and to the Premier League.
Chelsea have been linked with Radamel Falcao repeatedly but have also been long been admirers of the Hulk and given their current issues up top (well all over the field under Rafael Benitez!), a spot of January shopping may be just what is required to get the Blues back on track and nearer the two Manchester clubs at the Premier League summit.
After throwing a major strop last night when he was substituted in the Champions League against AC Milan, the 26-year-old Brazilian international – who cost the Russians £39.5 million, is now at odds with his manager Luciano Spalletti and the club, and with this fast moving turn of events, clubs around Europe are being put on red hot alert surrounding his potential availability.
As our landlord points out, potential suitors would have to contend with the fact that Hulk has already played in Europe’s premier competition this season which may prove a stumbling block, yet the player has maintained his stance stating ‘If things don’t resolve themselves I may leave in the January transfer window.’
With the arrival of the megastar hardly going down well in the first place, this latest Balotelli-sized strop could well see him trading his fur coat for an umbrella and a place in the Premier League come the start of next year.
