gomez.jpgThere is excitement here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Express have claimed that Chelsea are in the hunt for a new striker this summer and they are eyeing Bayern Munich’s Mario Gomez as a potential candidate.

The West London club have finally realised that Fernando Torres is quite simply not good enough for their challenge for the title and a Champions League push and despite signing Demba Ba this January they are still considering getting new blood in this summer.

Mario Gomez of course has been in superb form for the Bavarian giants and has netted 16 goals in 28 appearances this season. It may be all change at Chelsea in the summer manager wise but the club are certain on one thing – they know they need a world class centre forward and despite being persistently linked to Radamel Falcao, they are willing to consider other options.

Gomez is hardly a second choice plan given the sheer quality of the striker and most Chelsea fans here at the tavern are very excited at the prospect of landing the player. Chelsea could land Gomez for about £30 million – much less than they paid for flop Fernando Torres.

Will Gomez bolster Chelsea’s frontline in the summer? Rate this rumour below.

Gomez is and will be getting plenty of playing time with Bayern.
He loves Munich(a GREAT place to live.)
He will not go to London. Germans like a higher standard of living, especially ones that experience Munich and the Alps.
