It seems that here in the Football Transfer Tavern we cannot escape talking about goalkeepers today and on loan Chelsea man Thibaut Courtois has kept that going with a vengeance after a claim made in Mundo Deportivo.

The keeper has impressed at Atletico Madrid since joining on loan and was a key part of their Europa League winning side last season and has been equally impressive this term. Whilst all the plaudits are going to Radamel Falcao this season due to his scintillating form, Courtois has been somewhat overlooked by the media. This is not the case with other clubs however with interest from Barcelona in the Belgium international

For his part, Courtois is happy at Atleti and has plans to return to Chelsea once a first team spot is available. Courtois’ father has claimed that the situation with his son “has not changed at the moment.” He also claimed that there has been “no contact” from the Catalan giants and that a meeting with the Chelsea goalkeeping staff in the “coming days” is scheduled.

The player is thought to be happy where he currently is and is set on helping Diego Simeone’s men retain the second spot in La Liga and their 100 per cent home record this term.

Should Chelsea recall Courtois at the end of the season? Vote in our polls below.
