Chelsea skipper faces uncertain future

We at the Football Transfer Tavern cannot keep up with Chelsea. If it is not their managers leaving, it is their players and the Daily Telegraph now claim the decision on John Terry’s future will be delayed.

The man who now uses instagram to claim he is ’Mr Chelsea’ is facing an uncertain future at the club he has spent his entire career at. JT has seen the way the club have treated Frank Lampard and made a very cringe worthy tribute to his team mate via Instagram, calling for the number eight shirt to be retired.

While Lampard seems destined to leave the Blues, Terry’s team mate Ashley Cole was offered a new £200,000-a-week deal after Roman Abramovich completed a dramatic U-turn on his future last week. JT will now be hoping he falls into the Cole and not Lampard bracket when it comes to his future.

The defender has been plagued by injuries after spending much of his and Chelsea’s most successful period playing with cortisone injections and through the pain barrier. There have also been the ‘suspensions’ which will forever taint the image of the former England skipper. The club are aware of this but they also know just how unpopular losing their legendary skipper would be. For now JT has 18 months left on his contract but is keen to open negotiations to extend his deal.

Do you think Terry will be discarded like Lampard? Vote in our polls below.
