It is news that all Chelsea fans have been dying to hear for the last five years. According to Mundo Deportivo, Roman Abramovich has been in secret contact with you’ve guessed it – Jose Mourinho.

The Special One has never left the hearts of Chelsea fans, and with his exit from La Liga looking more and more certain to be this summer, there is only one destination Chelsea fans want Mourinho to end up at.

The manager himself has always expressed a desire to return to England and has been linked to Old Trafford with Sir Alex Ferguson himself even claiming that the Portuguese boss could manage anywhere in a story carried by the Guardian, yet with Fergie set to stay until he is carried out in his coffin, the Chelsea job looks ever more appealing for Mourinho.

The Daily Mail have alleged that secret messages have been exchanged between the manager and Chelsea’s Russian owner who knows that Rafael Benitez is unlikely to be appointed on a full-time basis.

Abramovich may have wanted Pep Guardiola to rock up at the Bridge but the former Barca boss did not fancy the hotseat instead opting for Bavaian giants Bayern Munich. Should Mourinho return to the Bridge, perhaps it would offer a life line to the older players of the squad – Ashley Cole may have been reprieved thus far but Frank Lampard and John Terry have not. As our landlord points out, Lampard flourished under Mourinho and could well be staying if the current Real Madrid boss arrives. Unlikely yes, but then again this is Chelsea where anything can seemingly occur.
