If we in the Football Transfer Tavern had a pound every time Wesley Sneijder was linked to a new club, we could buy the Inter Milan contract rebel ourselves and today is no different with Gazzetta Dello Sport claiming he is set to join Galatasaray.
The midfielder as we all know now has not played in a game since September and has been well and truly frozen out due to his refusal to agree to the wage cuts Inter have demanded. The club want him to cut his wages by £1.6 million per season and the player is not budging on his decision to refuse.
Sneijder has claimed he will leave the club as ‘it is best for all involved’ and after Inter agreed a fee with Galatasaray, the player was all set to agree personal terms and move to the Turkish giants. Depending on who you believe from this point, the deal could be either A – all systems go, with the player becoming a Galatasaray player in the next few days or B – as the Daily Mail claim, off with Inter rejecting this latest advance from the Turkish based club.
The Mail claim that a host of Premier League clubs are now scrambling to land the player after hearing Galatasaray were in the mix and with the unpredictability of the January transfer window, expect a few twists and turns yet.
