The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been seriously concerned about the fitness of impressive defender David Luiz over the last few weeks…

Having had strapping on his knee for the past few weeks, several fans in the Tavern began to speculate that the Brazilian was struggling with an injury. This presumption was seemingly confirmed after Chelsea’s game against Burnley – with the defender posting on Instagram to suggest that he was having to have painkilling injections after the game.

A few of the Blues in the Tavern have been fearful that he could be set to miss a few games with the injury – but now Antonio Conte has come out to calm those fears.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Wolves this weekend, via Chelsea’s official Twitter, Conte said: “David Luiz’s knee is a lot better than when it was originally injured against Man City”, before suggesting that the Brazilian will be rested this weekend.

He has been a constant in the Chelsea first team in the Premier League since he moved back, with the trio of Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz cementing themselves as the best defensive trio in England.
