cornelius.jpgThe Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern aren’t too disappointed to read in The Sun that one of their transfer targets – Andreas Cornelius is being closely watched by Everton who are ramping up their efforts to sign the Danish international.

Rated at £5 million, Cornelius has already made a name for himself at both domestic and international level despite only being 20-years-old and the Toffees recently sent scouts to run the rule over the powerful frontman in FC Copenhagen’s game with Aarhus last weekend.

A major part of Copenhagen’s success this season, Cornelius has fired 20 goals which places the Parken Stadium-based side on the brink of yet another domestic title in Denmark.

Everton don’t have a huge array of striking talent at Goodison Park and despite Victor Anichebe enjoying a more successful season, Nikica Jelavic has gone off the boil completely and hasn’t looked his previous self this term.

Copenhagen sporting director, Carsten Jensen explained that he doesn’t know what the future holds for their star striker noting: “Cornelius is in our plans for next season — but anything is possible.”

Arsenal have of course had a tall Danish striker before in Nicklas Bendtner and the Gunners fans are hoping that they don’t sign another pretender in Cornelius!

Will Everton beat Arsenal to the signature of the Dane? Rate this rumour below.

Antique Gunmen, its a case like Mirallas who prefered Everton to Arsenal. Reason is simple: He presumed higher competition at Arsenal which made him to have cold feet wheras at Everton he wondered, who will be in my way? I could play anywhere really. I will give the example of South African lad who left to join Spuds and found time on the pitch limited and returned.
Quality my friend, quality. That Everton used to be thrashed with 5-7 goals. Even now when they sort of dare to challenge, its still roughhouse tactics they relie on to avoid a beating.

Just give us 3-4 quality signing and take out time wasters and you will see what we can do teams in a blink of an eye.
