Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have mixed celebration with commiseration this season, and the weekend was certainly a time for the latter, as they crashed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle.

Following their defeat to Leicester City at Goodison Park, the Everton fans around the bar have been debating what sort of business their side will complete during the transfer window and they’re fiercely discussing one new report.

Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, state Gerard Deulofeu is set to hold crunch talks with the Toffees regarding his future, after the Spaniard has failed to establish himself in Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans this season.

The 22-year-old is still valued highly by Everton and the Toffees do not to approve an exit, although AC Milan are circling with the San Siro giants interested in taking the winger on-loan until the end of the season.

Deulofeu is understandably keen on a move to the Italian outfit, who can offer him more regular football, but Everton still see him as a valuable member of their squad – although Koeman may have to improve his opportunities in the first-team, as he’s started just four Premier League games this season.

Our landlord believes Everton should do all they can to hold onto Deulofeu but admits they need to hand him further openings, although he doesn’t feel that’s a bad thing as the Toffees attack could do with a boost.

Should Everton block a loan move for Deulofeu? Let us know in the comments below!
