Five transfer plan B’s for Manchester United this summer
Manchester United are set to land title number 20 with relative ease this time around, after a commanding season on all fronts.
Further trophies may yet follow, but even Sir Alex Ferguson will be slightly surprised at the way they have seemingly won the Premier League title with plenty to spare.
A twelve point gap remains between themselves and noisy neighbours Manchester City, and with just ten games to spare, even the most pessimistic of United fans would have a hard time admitting it is anything but all over.
Sir Alex being the manager that he is will have already cast half an eye over next season, and will no doubt have begun pondering what further reinforcements he will bring in this summer.
The defence is the area he will no doubt be looking to strengthen most. United have made it difficult for themselves time and again this season by falling behind in games, and with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand both entering the twilight of their careers, expect to see some movement on that front.
Some reinforcements out wide and in the middle of the park may also be at the forefront of Fergie’s mind. Wilfried Zaha is a done deal, but with Nani expected to be on his way out another winger wouldn’t go amiss.
With next season expected to be the last for Paul Scholes (no, seriously this time) a long-term replacement may be bought in, and don’t be surprised to see a swap or two in the striking department.
There is plenty to ponder for United and Sir Alex this summer. Here we take a look at five potential transfer plan B’s that may provide them with even more of a cutting edge next time around.
