Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern were left commiserating into their pints this lunchtime after French midfielder Franck Ribery all but ended any aspirations of him one day playing in the Premier League by declaring that he wants to end his career at Bayern Munich.

Although the former Marseille man is only 29-years-old, he is already looking ahead to his long-term future and talkSPORT have confirmed that the French international has stated that he wants to extend his current deal to remain in Germany for the rest of his career.

“I am bound to Bayern until June 2015,” Ribery said. “I see myself extending my contract again, but first I will talk to (Bayern president) Uli Hoeness.

“In any case, I have not changed my mind, I see myself finishing my career at Bayern Munich.”

The superb attacking midfielder has often been linked with a big money switch to the Premier League with countryman Arsene Wenger and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson representing keen admirers of his brilliant talents, but any future move now appears unlikely with Ribery clearly very happy at the current Bundesliga leaders.

Are you gutted that Ribery is likely to never to play Premier League football? Vote in our polls below.
