Fulham knocked back in chase for Danish international
Fulham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were left disappointed this morning after Goal.com broke news that the Craven Cottage outfit have see an offer for FC Nordsjaelland defender Jores Okore knocked back.
The 20-year-old centre back has impressed at the heart of the Danish side’s defence during their recent Champions League campaign that pitted them against Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus.
This has attracted suitors from across Europe but according to the player’s agent Nikola Juric, Fulham have seen an approach rejected by Nordsjaelland.
“I heard that Fulham made an offer to sign Okore but his club rejected the proposal,” Juric toldExpressen.se.
“A lot of teams are interested in him. Half of the clubs in the Premier League are after him, so is Lyon and many others.
“He is only 20 years old,” Juric continued. “If he signs with a club in England, he obviously won’t be expecting to be playing regularly right away.
“So he knows that he has to be thorough sorting through all these offers and, for him, the most important thing is that a new club has a plan for him.”
Martin Jol is desperate to strengthen his defence during the current transfer window after letting right back Stephen Kelly depart to Reading on Friday, plus there is also the possibility of Brede Hangeland leaving before the end of January.
Fulham have already brought Dutch youngster Chris David to West London this January from FC Twente and remain keen on finalising the deal that will take Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’s Derek Boateng to the capital.
