As the January transfer window reaches the half-way point, Premier League clubs are getting increasingly anxious to bring in new players and struggling Fulham are at the front of the queue with Mirror Football reporting that Martin Jol wants to land Belgian centre half Bernard Malanda-Adje and Romanian winger Banel Nicolita.
Jol wants to sign 18-year-old Malanda-Adje who has impressed for Zulte Waregem this term after signing for them from French outfit Lille while also moving for Saint-Etienne midfielder Nicolita.
The 28-year-old Romanian international is currently out through injury but according to the Mirror, that doesn’t look like putting Jol off in his pursuit.
Nicolita even confirmed that he would like to move to the Premier League in the near future.
He said: “I understand there is a long-term interest. There are no reasons why I cannot leave and I would like to play in England.”
The Craven Cottage side are eager to bring in talented players that have a large sell-on value and both of these arrivals could represent good value for money in the transfer market with Jol hoping to bolster his squad ahead of the all important business end of the season.
The Cottagers have been relatively quiet this window having only brought in Dutch youngster Chris David from FC Twente while letting Stephen Kelly depart for Reading. The Craven Cottage-based side have also released Mickael Tavares who was on a month-to-month contract in West London.
