Has Levy Spied A Neglected Talent On The Chelsea Bench?

After the dismissal of AVB earlier in the year at Stamford Bridge, it wasn’t just the manager who missed out as it saw the impressive run of Daniel Sturridge come to an end. Now with AVB favourite to take over as the manager of the North London club, rumour mills have been circulating which could see Sturridge reunite with his former gaffer.

The 23 year old played 37 games last season in all competitions but he strongly impressed the Chelsea fans who saw him challenge for a starting eleven role at the club.

Between the 2nd of October last season and the 22nd of December, Sturridge featured in 14 games but only played the full 90 minutes on 8 occasions between this time period. But when he did play the whole game, the Englishman scored 6 times and assisted twice. So on average he managed to directly contribute to a goal when he played for the full duration, but how can he only achieve a position on the bench?

With Spurs needing to buy a couple of strikers desperately, Sturridge would be a great option. With Chelsea looking at players with a heftier price tag such as Torres and Hulk to feature in their attack, it leaves little space for this promising player, which has led to speculation of Sturridge’s future at the London club.

Will he make a move across the capital to Spurs? Leave your comments below.

Yeah I keep hearing this but….when he did play under AVB, he was, as he put it, not played in his favoured CF role but as a right wing attack, yes that is more fruitful in a 433 (AVB’s chosen formation) than a 4231 (RDM’s chosen formation) but still not Sturridges best position (see Bolton loan). He should be no2 to Torres at Chelsea, simple

Does not fit at Chelsea. He plays only for personal glory and not for the team.

They can keep him. We can call back Harry Kane if we want a youngster on the bench.

Yes like Greaves, Smith, Allen & Venables, you can grow them but Terry apart you cannot pick them.

West ham ‘grew’ Terry. Chelsea tried to sell him when he was 19 to Colchester for £50,000. And no, I didn’t miss a zero.

I so hope the Spurs interest is true! People talk about the goals he scored but he cost Chelsea even more goals ‘missed’ with his stupid greed which is why he was taken out of the starting 11. He would make an excellent lever for Moderic!
