Transfer news concerning Fulham has reached us inside the Football Transfer Tavern, with sources at the Daily Express reckoning Martin Jol is set to raid his former club for a deadline day signing.
The club are reportedly in talks with Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone over a potential £5 million transfer which would see the midfielder make the deadline day switch to Craven Cottage.
Martin Jol made the enquiry to his former club yesterday, and talks are thought to be progressing well. Jol hopes the deal will be concluded before the 11pm deadline, so that Huddlestone is able play for his new club against Manchester United on Saturday.
He has had something of a stop-start career at White Hart Lane, never quite managing to hold down a regular first team place.
This season he has cut a frustrated figure, as he has failed to climb above Mousa Dembele, Scott Parker and Brazilian Sandro in the pecking order.
Fulham have been busy during the final days of the transfer window, with Jol already recruiting two other midfielders on loan.
Emmanuel Frimpong has joined the club on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season, whilst AC Milan midfielder Urby Emanuelson joined on loan today until the end of the season.
Jol is desperately seeking reinforcements for his squad who have been on a wretched run of form, winning just two of their last eighteen matches in all competitions before last nights 3-1 victory over West Ham United.
