Huge blow for City in striker race

cavani.jpgHere in the Football Transfer Tavern we think that Manchester City are being linked to many a new summer arrival at the minute and one of the stories in the Daily Mail has got punters sitting up and taking extra notice.

As we all know, this summer there are two top class strikers allegedly on the move – Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani and it is not a shock that their futures depend somewhat on each other. Both are linked with the same few clubs – the only ones rich enough and good enough to afford them and should one of the strikers make the move before the other, this is likely to have a huge bearing on the others eventual whereabouts.

What many punters presumed was that Chelsea and Real Madrid would battle it out for the signature of Radamel Falcao while Uruguayan international Cavani would be the man to replace the departed Mario Balotelli at Manchester City. Now sensationally the Daily Mail have blown this all out of the water and claimed that Cavani is in talks with Real Madrid over a summer move.

Not only is this interesting to Chelsea who must now feel that they are in pole position to poach Falcao but it is also a huge blow to City. Roberto Mancini is desperate for some firepower up top after seeing his side falter this season and sensationally revealed the identity of the names on his summer transfer wishlist recently in a report also covered by the Daily Mail.

Will City attract one of the big name strikers in the summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
