The San Siro outfit were reported in a Turkish paper to have made a £12 million offer as they seek a replacement for Wesley Sneijder who was sold to Turkish giants Galatasaray yesterday.
Montpellier president Louis Nicollin was told AMK: “We have accepted an offer of 14 million euros for Belhanda from Inter.
“Fenerbahce only offered eight million, so the player will go to Inter.”
But in an odd turn of events Goal.com report that Inter director Marco Branca was left bemused by the reports.
Branca told the club’s official website “We don’t like to contradict Montpellier’s president, but Inter have never presented him with an offer for Younes Belhanda.”
Andre Villas-Boas is fan of the highly-rated midfielder according to an article earlier this month in The Guardian with the Moroccan international a key-member of the French title-winning side last season. With Inter’s denial, this could open the door for Tottenham.
Belhanda, who starred for his country during their 1-1 draw against Cape Verde yesterday in the African Cup of Nations, also scored against Arsenal in their opening Champions League group stage game in France with a delicately lobbed penalty and could yet be on the move this January.
