The club in question is Liverpool who are eyeing the Chilean forward – potentially as a replacement for Luis Suarez. The Reds are aware they may lose their key man in the summer and need to have a back up plan – even if this is not the case and the player stays, they want a big name signing and someone to add quality to their forward line.
No matter how much they may want Sanchez however they will have to battle it out with Serie A side Napoli, who again are also facing the loss of their star forward Edinson Cavani. Whilst it is more certain that Cavani will leave than Suarez, both clubs face a fight to hold on to their star assets.
Alexis Sanchez has struggled this season at the Camp Nou and not only has there been a loss of form but injuries and a lack of match fitness have proved his undoing to boot. Of course the future of David Villa seems to lie outside of Catalonia too, but Barcelona would reportedly be willing to listen to offers for their Chilean forward should the price be right.
Barcelona initially paid £23 million for the forward from Udinese and will be looking to get most of that transfer fee back. Given the player is under contract until 2016, they are in a good position to do so.
Can Liverpool really capture a player such as Sanchez if they finish outside the top four? Rate this rumour below.
