“Join me!” Modric urges pal Bale to join him at Real

Another superb performance from Tottenham’s Gareth Bale in midweek has got Spurs fans’ pints clinking in the Football Transfer Tavern, but these could extend to Real Madrid in the near future.

David Kent of the Daily Mail has been informing us of how Bale’s former Spurs team mate Luka Modric is desperate to link up with the Welshman once more, this time in the white of Los Blancos.

Modric – who completed his £33million move to the Bernabeu in the summer – has said: “We used to talk and I know he wants to play Champions League football every season and has a big dream of winning the Champions League.

“Madrid would be a great club for him to achieve his dreams.

“I play with Ronaldo here at Madrid and the way he just runs with the ball with such confidence and defenders back off him is exactly the same as Gareth.

“To have the both in the same team would be unstoppable.”

Bale has been continuously linked with a move to one of Spain’s big two, following a string of superb performances over the last couple of seasons. The Welshman was on fire once again on Wednesday night, scoring one and providing another in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

A chance to test himself in the Champions League could be where Bale’s true desires lay, following the disappointment of missing out last season despite finishing in the top four, as Chelsea took their place after a penalty shootout victory in Munich.

A move to Spain would ensure Champions League football year in, year out – an opportunity that could prove too tempting to turn down for the 23-year-old.

Will Spurs fans continue to be singing Bale’s name long into the night for years to come or is he off to Spain in the near future? Vote in our polls below.

It would be a bad move, he is not as good as Ronaldo so there would be no roaming the pitch, Ozil and DeMaria’s games are bigger, he would find it hard to get in the midfield, and could end up as full back again where his defensive skills are not up to it.
If he goes (which Spurs have denied)he could end up like Modric, on the bench more often than not and taking one-on-one training because he would not be a good enough full back. There are supporters in Madrid who think Modric’s game is not good enough for the club, what he does is quality but they already have players who can do that and more, beware Mr Bale.
