Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we have finally begun to believe that Arsene Wenger is prepared to spend big and bring in some players during this transfer window and a claim in the Daily Express only serves to back this up.

The club are eyeing relatively unknown midfielder Jorginho who plays for Serie B side Hellas Verona as their latest target and Wenger has moved the player right up his wish list this January. The Frenchman is keen to strengthen his side in the middle of the park after injuries to Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin recently.

With the Champions League knockout stages about to reach fever pitch, clubs are scrambling to make signings before the window closes in order to give their team the edge when it comes to the crunch fixtures.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, as always seems to be the case for their side, they will face a battle to land the signature of the midfielder with the Italian press claiming that Lazio have already made a bid in the region of £3.3 million for the young Brazilian Wenger of course has seen his key players sold and targets missed out on in recent seasons and is aware that Gunners fans will not be happy, should these incidences happen again.

Could Jorginho make an impact at the Emirates? Rate this rumour below.

Oh pls… We need to strengthen the squad and the best we come up with is some dude in serie b…seen that before, in he comes – out he goes on loan and we have the same issues… Wenger is not signing anyone until the summer. Why? We won 5-1 last night crisis over. Forget the fact that man u has almost double the points to us 2/3 into the season. Embarrasing.

Is Wenger ill? I think he is in the early stages of dementia./
His decisions in the transfer market have been flawed since David Dein left and the club has suffered as a course.
Players like Villa, M’Villa and M’Winga could walk onto the pitch and make a difference instantly by closing down attacks, enforcing the midfielld and scoring goals.
WTF are we waiting for, a new manager???

Amazing young player, would surely raise the level of arsenal midfield.
