It has been a rather quiet day at the Football Transfer Tavern until Daily Star journalist Alicia Johnson arrives with  exciting news that Japanese star Keisuke Honda has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers in January.

The 27-year-old, who has admirers across Europe, has just entered the final year of his contract and it is believed he may be interested in  moving to Anfield in a reported £12 million deal.

The CSKA Moscow star has been repeatedly linked with a move to Merseyside and may be the solution to the lack of attacking threat at the club with captain Steven Gerrard currently operating in a deeper withdrawn position.

Honda was voted as one of the stars of the 2010 World Cup and has frequently enthralled during appearances in Europe during the last few seasons, however he has had a difficult season in Moscow after receiving criticism from his manager and he may be ready to end his Russian adventure early.

The playmaker began his career with VVV Venlo in the Netherlands before moving to Russia where he has impressed in an advanced midfield role, currently helping his side take top place in the Russian Premier League with 8 goals in his 17 appearances thus far.

So you would sell Reina, Enrique and Shelvey? Stupid really as they are all playing quite well and would cost more to replace than you seem to think they should be sold for.
