Liverpool line up Carragher replacement
It has been a constant topic of conversation here at the Football Transfer Tavern and talkSPORT are not making it any easier to move away from Liverpool and their future at the back after linking yet another defender to the club.
Brendan Rodgers is braced for a busy summer and has to find at least one, if not two centre halves with Jamie Carragher set to hang up his boots moving into punditry and Martin Skrtel tipped to leave the club also. Add to this the uncertainty over Sebastian Coates’ future and things are far from settled in the Reds’ back line.
The club have considered a host of options and the latest of these is out of favour Paris Saint Germain defender Mamadou Sakho. The young French international is only 23 years of age and has come through the ranks at the Parisian club, yet with the talent and money now around at the Parc Des Princes, he has struggled to break his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven on a regular basis.
The first choice centre back pairing of former Chelsea man Alex and summer signing Thiago Silva have firmly established themselves with some stellar displays in Ligue 1 and the Brazilian duo have made it difficult for anyone else to get a look in. This has lead to Sakho considering his future and a potential move away from the French capital and his hometown.
With 12 French international caps accumulated already for Les Bleus and interest from Newcastle United (of course!) and Arsenal, Rodgers will face a fight to land the player but is willing to try.

Sakho looking good for 1 of our c/b Incomers & having French international, who is being kept on bench at PSG by Brazilian pairing, could make a stable partner for Agger,I’d ask Carra for his opinion,as Brendan trusts him
