Liverpool line up ‘take it or leave it’ bid for Serie A star
The latest update on the future of Liverpool target Philippe Coutinho has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of Dan Silver at the Daily Mirror.
The Anfield club have reportedly made their third and final bid for the young Brazilian, who they are desperate to sign before the transfer deadline on Thursday.
Brendan Rodgers has already tabled a bid of around £8 million for the playmaker, and is hoping a bid closer to £10m will secure the player’s services.
Liverpool thought Southampton may have pipped them to the post last week when it was revealed the South Coast club had a bid accepted by Inter Milan, although it is thought Coutinho only has eyes for a move to Anfield.
Liverpool are hoping to push the deal through quickly, as they fear a protracted work permit application process due to the 20 year-old having only represented his country once.
Rodgers has said he hoped to bring in ‘one or two’ more new faces before the close of the transfer window, and has not ruled out a potential return for Thomas Ince of Blackpool.
Having already signed Daniel Sturridge, would the addition of Coutinho represent a sufficient January window? Let us know your thoughts below.
