It’s another busy morning for Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern with The Liverpool Echo reporting that the Reds could make their fifth summer signing in the next few days.
Granada left back Guilherme Siqueira could move to Anfield in £5 million deal after the Reds started talks with the Spanish club for the 27-year-old defender’s services.
Merseyside rivals Everton have also been linked with the Brazilian this summer as they seek a possible replacement for Leighton Baines but the Reds have slowly edged out Roberto Martinez’s side.
Rodgers is keen to land the La Liga full back as he looks to add reinforcements to his defence with concerns remaining about Jose Enrique’s form and fitness as current first choice left back.
The versatile defender, who could become Rodgers latest summer arrival from Spain after the earlier signings of Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo and Sevilla’s Luis Alberto, will also provide extra cover on the left wing following the expected departure of Stewart Downing who is set to join West Ham United in a £5 million deal later today.
The Reds have also been linked with possible moves for Valencia’s Aly Cissokho and Lorenzo Melgarejo of Benfica on short-term loan deals but Rodgers has reportedly decided to plump with the the Brazilian on a permanent basis as he looks to further add to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season which starts with a trip to Stoke City on Saturday.
