iturra.jpgThere is brilliant news for Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern courtesy of talkSPORT who claim that Brendan Rodgers could be set for a major coup this summer.

The Reds are on a high coming off the back of beating high flying Tottenham 3-2 at the weekend and seeing their team leapfrog local rivals Everton in the process with things looking up for the Anfield outfit. Now in even better news it is claimed that the club have basically agreed a deal to sign a La Liga-based ace.

Manuel Iturra has been simply sensational for Malaga this season, not only showing exactly how good he is in La Liga but also in the Champions League where Malaga topped their group ahead of favourites AC Milan.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been keen to resolve his future. Despite having a host of clubs after him the playmaker has chosen to join Rodgers at the club he has been persistently linked to and now according to A Bola and also Italian website Calciomercato, a deal is all but penned for the Chilean international midfielder.

This is welcome news for the Reds who despite their recent upturn in fortunes still have to contend with the fact they need a replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher while Luis Suarez’ continued hot vein means he is placing himself in the shop window with every trademark goal.

Will Iturra prove a valuable addition for Liverpool if the signing is officially completed? Let us knwo your thoughts below.

Rubbish, Itura has hardly got playing time with Malaga, he is always on the bench as a Sub, so how is he supposed to be sensational this year. Lazy Journo’s, just waste our time. LFC look like signing him, but please “SENSATIONAL” is way overboard.

I like Iturra, he’s a scrapper with great passing ability. He’s like Suarez in the sense he never gives up and plays with passion.
