Liverpool fans sat in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking happy with the news emerging from Mirror Football this morning that Valencia left back Aly Cissokho will become the club’s fifth signing completing a loan move later today.
The former Lyon defender was on Merseyside for a medical yesterday and he will now join Brendan Rodgers’ side for the season to offer competition for current first choice left back Jose Enrique.
Cissokho recently revealed that the Reds were confident of landing him, saying: “Liverpool came to me and it’s true that I have agreed to join them. Now it’s down to the clubs to decide a transfer deal.”
According to sources in the tavern, the Anfield club were understood to favour a loan deal for the 25-year-old with an option to make a deal permanent depending on performances next summer and the Reds now look like fending off competition from Sunderland to land the one cap French international on a short-term deal.
Rodgers is still keen on adding another attacking midfielder to his side and they will hear today if their £28 million offer for Anzhi Makhachkala star Willian has been successful. The Brazilian has now recveived interest from Tottenham, who can offer European football, and that could see him making the switch to White Hart Lane instead.
Willian is available for transfer after Anzhi put several high earners up for sale as they attempt to cut costs dramatically and that could now see the former Shakhtar Donetsk man arriving in England.
