Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we’ve been waiting patiently all day for some Liverpool transfer news to break but the best we received is that Reds youngster Suso has ruled out a deadline day switch to Wigan Athletic.
The 19-year-old Spaniard was linked with a possible loan to the DW Stadium in order to gain valuable Premier League experience but he confirmed tonight that he would be staying at Merseyside for the rest of the season.
Suso is likely to fall out of the first team reckoning at Anfield after the arrivals of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho and he may struggle to get a game in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
However, the teenager is ready to battle for place in Rodgers’ first team plan, and has denied speculation that he would be joining Wigan on loan
“I’m making clear that I’m not going on loan to Wigan. I’m really happy in Liverpool,”” he told Sky Sports.
The attacking midfielder regularly featured for the Reds during the opening months of the season and he is highly regarded by the Anfield staff as a real talent for the future.
