Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been growing increasingly concerned over recent months that big clubs could swoop for their star players, but they’ve raised their pints in approval to the latest news.

The Daily Mirror states Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has told Spanish giants Barcelona where to stick their interest in Philippe Coutinho, as he made it abundantly clear he will not part ways with the Brazilian ace.

Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho has flooded the back pages for months and the close relationship between Coutinho and Barca’s Neymar has only intensified speculation, although it appears they’ll have to save their bromance for the international stage.

Despite rumours of a potential £60m deal, Klopp has stated no amount of money will convince him to sell Coutinho to the La Liga giants.

“We never had any ideas or plans or any talks about him leaving, because he is our player – there are no other ideas, nothing has changed.”

Coutinho has been absent for the past month through injury but is expected to make his return to the first-team fold this week.

Our landlord isn’t convinced Klopp’s words will be enough to put Barcelona off a swoop for Coutinho though and he’s expecting an offer to be made at some point this year.
