Whilst we at the Football Transfer Tavern have been focusing on Liverpool’s recent signing Daniel Sturridge, but the Anfield club have also secured the future of one of their younger players on a new long-term contract as the Daily Mirror report.
Youngster Andre Wisdom has penned a new deal with Brendan Rodgers’ side and is now set to stay at the club for the foreseeable future. Both the club and management staff have seen how well the player has been doing and were keen for him to commit to the club.
The 19-year-old himself was delighted, and stated: “It’s a great honour to sign a new contract at the club and I’m very happy. It was an easy decision to make – as soon as they offered it to me, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands because it’s a great club and I just want to continue to play for Liverpool.”
This of course follows Raheem Sterling and Suso penning new deals and the defender also spoke about his progression, claiming: “I am happy with the progress I’ve made so far and hopefully I can progress more in the second half of the season and continue to keep playing. There’s still so much hard work ahead. There is big competition within the team and everyone wants to play football. I just hope I can keep progressing and continue in the way I have been.”
Wisdom actually began his football education at Capital One Cup heroes Bradford City but without playing a first team game for the Bantams, he was swiftly transferred onto Liverpool in 2008.
