It has become somewhat of a standard thing here at the Football Transfer Tavern to watch Liverpool try to pay over the odds for English wingers and the Daily Mail report that a bid for Blackpool’s Tom Ince is soon to be finalised.
Of course this is the player who the club let gobefore realising he was actually a few shades better than Stewart Downing who cost them an awful lot more than the £6 million Blackpool are demanding for Ince.
The England Under-21 winger has been linked with a move back to Liverpool for a few weeks now but the move has gone off the radar recently. The sticking point had been the initial £4.75 million offer from Liverpool with Blackpool feeling the player is more in the £7 million bracket.
As our landlord remarks, if Liverpool had correctly assessed the player during his spell at Anfield they would have recognised his talent and could have saved themselves a hefty fee! Swansea City are also sniffing around the player, yet both the price and Ince’s desire to join Liverpool would prove sticking points.
After lighting up Blackpool’s play-off run last season Ince showed his quality and placed himself firmly on the radar for a move. After yet another decent spell for the Tangerines this term, the club are willing to let him leave for the right price and the youngster is hoping that his former club can cough up.
