The Sun reaches us and it is a cracker. Steve Clarke wants to keep his on loan striker Romelu Lukaku for the next campaign.
Chelsea do see the Belgian forward as the eventual successor to Didier Drogba who is still revered at Stamford Bridge and the physical presence of the young forward, not to mention his ability to score all types of goals means that the West London club do eventually want him as their number one goal scorer.
This season however they have not only Demba Ba but also Fernando Torres to the dismay of many in the tavern and are happy for Lukaku to stay on loan.
Given that he is doing such a good job for the Baggies, it is no shock that Steve Clarke has claimed: “If Chelsea want to leave him out for another season somewhere, I think we would have a strong chance of getting him back here but it is a discussion for the summer. It’s good for us that everybody sees he’s a good player because we’ve had the benefit of his good performances and his goals, and it’s been good for Romelu, Chelsea and us.”
Chelsea of course have to face West Brom this weekend and will be glad that Lukaku is not eligible to play.
Do the Baggies have a strong chance of keeping Lukaku at The Hawthorns next season? Let us know your thoughts below.
