lamela.jpgThere are disappointed faces here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed byForza Italia that Manchester City have been dealt a massive blow in their attempts to land Argentine international Erik Lamela.

The Citizens have apparently seen a £20 million bid for the player rejected by Roma who are making their intent to keep the attacker very clear.

City boss Roberto Mancini is a big fan of the player and would like to add him to his squad in the summer. City have their sights not only on winning the Premier League for a second time but also to attempt to do slightly better in the Champions League – well as one of our punters quips, it is not like they could do much worse!

Now Lamela is debating over his own future, and despite previously claiming that he could see himself staying at the Stadio Olimpico for life, he may certainly have had his head turned by the widespread attention that has been placed upon him this term. Of course Roma are also concerned over the future of midfield linchpin Daniele De Rossi who is another Manchester City target and the side from the Italian capital are bracing themselves for Mancini to make a bid for his services too.

Have City failed in their attempts to land Lamela or will they return? Let us know your thoughts below.
