Mancini hands striker a lifeline
During the festive time we in the Football Transfer Tavern always enjoy a little declaration of love, yet we did not think the one reported by Sky Sports would have come to pass. Mario Balotelli is reportedly ‘loved’ by Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.
The 22-year-old has forever been linked with a move away from the Citizens, with AC Milan willing to wait until the summer before they can eventually secure the player, yet Roberto Mancini feels that the player will be remaining at the club long after that.
Whilst calling on the Italian international to sort himself out professionally, Manicni spoke not only of Sheikh Mansour’s feelings towards the player, but also his own, claiming that: “The relationship between he and I is always good even if every day he does something. I have affection for him because we’ve lived together for many years. But the professional relationship is another thing and, from now, Mario knows the facts.”
He also commented that: “Sheikh Mansour likes Balotelli. Another consideration that must be made on Mario is that an important investment has been made and this isn’t a club that throws their capitals out of the window.”
On a professional note however, Manicni had stern words for the eccentric player, warning that if he wants to stay at the club: “the time of talks and allowances has ended. Balotelli is aged 22 and it’s time for him to be professional.”
