Manchester United fans are moving away from the dartboard and heading to the bar as our landlord reiterates what he has just learned from the Doncaster Free Press.
The local Yorkshire publication claim that Italian outcast Federico Macheda could well be set for a move to the club – on loan of course.
The forward is no stranger to loan spells away from United and has been given several chances to impress – all of which have not really paid off, with nightmare loan spells at Sampdoria, QPR and Stuttgart not really impressing the Red Devils hierarchy at Old Trafford.
Now it seems that the forward has been frozen out of the team altogether and as one of our punters quips, even if he was the flavour of the month at Old Trafford, he would struggle to get into the team ahead of the likes of Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Robin van Persie on a consistent basis.
As it is, David Moyes is willing to allow the player the chance to go out on loan in his final season at the cub whilst his contract runs down and Rovers boss Paul Dickov is certainly keen on landing the forward for the season.
Macheda was watching Doncaster Rovers’ game with Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium at the weekend and is keen for a final chance to show what he can do playing regularly in English football – and an emergency loan move to the Championship club could provide him with the perfect platform to do just that.
