Manchester United handed boost in midfielder race?
Manchester United fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern remain quietly excited about a possible summer return for Cristiano Ronaldo, although Paul Handler of the Manchester Evening News has stopped by to reveal the Portugese superstar is remaining tight-lipped on his future.
A possible summer move for the forward has been mentioned on more than one occasion, with Paris Saint Germain understood to be monitoring the situation as well as his former club.
The 28-year-old has reiterated his desire to win a trophy at the Bernabeu, but has refused to comment on whether he will remain at Real Madrid next season handing United a potential boost in their attempts to land him.
His form has been exceptional this season, with his performances often carrying Jose Mourinho’s team on his own. Had it not been for the form of rival Lionel Messi at Barcelona, he would surely be considered untouchable as the worlds finest player.
At a ceremony to receive the Alfredo Di Stefano Trophy, awarded by Spanish newspaper Marca to the top player in La Liga last season, Ronaldo refused to be drawn on his future, instead only discussing his aims for the rest of the season with Real.
He said: “Much remains. We are in the cup final and we have taken a major step in the Champions League.
“The league is difficult but we must fight to the end.
“Things personally with me are going well but what I want is to win a major trophy with Madrid.”
Manchester United recieved a record breaking £80 million from Real for his services back in 2009.
