Manchester United plan sacrifices to land wonderkid
Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are sitting up and taking note of the latest gossip from the Daily Mail who claim the club are willing to make a huge bid for a Porto wonderkid.
James Rodriguez is apparently back on Sir Alex Ferguson’s radar and due to his brilliant form and progress, to land him the Red Devils will have to pay a release clause of £36 million. Had they stuck to their guns the last time he came on their radar, £24 million would have been enough to land the 21-year-old Colombian international.
Fergie is aware of how well the winger has been doing in the Primeira Liga and is even willing to offer Anderson and Nani as part of an exchange deal. Either that or the duo will be sold in order to raise cash for the purchase of Rodriguez.
Nani of course has been linked with a move away from the Estadio Dragao for several months now. Former Poerto midfielder himself Anderson promised so much and has delivered so little at United for various reasons and despite costing £20 million, he will be let go for much less than that.
A move back to Portugal could well be on the cards for the Brazilian who claimed that Porto was still in his heart and noted: “Porto are the one club I would consider moving back to Portugal for. My past is there. It is where I put down my roots.”
