Manchester United fans are looking up keenly from their game of darts here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as the Daily Star confirms that they have sent one of their promising young starlets out on loan.
David Moyes and his backroom staff have agreed to loan out Jesse Lingard for a month to Championship strugglers Birmingham City.
The 20-year-old is making the temporary one month switch to the West Midlands club in order to receive regular game time and with former Red Devils youngster Ravel Morrison having impressed at St. Andrews last term, Lingard will be hoping to follow suit.
After impressing on the Red Devils’ pre-season tour, fans really started to sit up and take notice of the young player.
Now as one of our punters quips over a hearty ham and cheese toastie – yes, the winter menu is out in full force – United fans will be keeping a keen eye on him.
After finishing the tour of Asia as the club’s top scorer, many wondered if the little winger would break into the first team. As of yet, that chance has not materialised, but he is a major part of United’s long-term plans.
United are also willing to let young centre back Michael Keane leave on loan after plans to allow him some first etam action in the Capital One Cup were shelved.
Understandably, after a nightmare draw against arch rivals Liverpool, Moyes will be fielding a strong side and Keane will not feature. Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City are leading the pack to take the starlet out on loan at the minute with the Foxes having taken up a similar agreement last season.
One player who will remain at Old Trafford is Adnan Januzaj, who is now part of the first team squad in David Moyes’ eyes. The 18-year-old Belgian has to decide on his future soon however, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Moyes feels that including the player in the first team will convince him to snub the other offers and sign a new five-year deal while opting against leaving Old Trafford like promising youngster Paul Pogba before him.
