Manchester United boss David Moyes is set to please the Football Transfer Tavern’s Red Devils regulars by snapping up Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva after missing out on Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara, according to the Express.
Moyes is set to face his first major disappointment as United boss as it appears Pep Guardiola and Bayern Munich have hijacked his bid for Barcelona youngster Thiago leaving the former Everton manager seeking alternatives.
Candreva would be cheaper than Thiago but competition is also rife for the Lazio playmaker who has been linked with Napoli in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old impressed in the recent Confederations Cup for Italy and was linked with a Premier League move back in January when Tottenham and Manchester City were caught scouting him in Rome.
Real Madrid’s Luka Modric is also on Moyes’ wishlist but Candreva is seen as the more likely option with Modric stepping up his performances in the Spanish capital during the latter part of 2012/13.
