As the transfer window has now drawn to an end we at the Football Transfer Tavern are taking a look back at the events of the last month and where better to start than with a Daily Mail article about Manchester City and Mario Balotelli.
Whilst he had been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium for a while, it was still a shock to see the cult hero leave the club who now only have three top strikers. City fans for the most part were glad to see the back of Balotelli who only had one assist during his time at the club – albeit the famous one to Sergio Aguero on the last day of their winning season.
Marred by off the field controversy, Mancini has claimed he is ‘sad’ to see Mario go and according to the Daily Mail has now been linked with a move for Luis Suarez who seems to be the next in demand player noting: “For me, Suarez is a top player, I like him as he is strong, he works.”
Balotelli for his part has claimed he is thrilled to be at his boyhood club calling it a ‘dream’ and despite praising City fans and the Premier League, he noted that he pretty much hated everything else about England.
Now attention will of course turn back to City’s fight to retain their title and a possible chance for Swedish striker John Guidetti in the first team and Mancini will be hoping the loss of Balotelli does not affect their chances too much.
