Just yesterday here at the Football Transfer Tavern we were talking about Manchester City and their potential transfer targets in the summer and it seems that the Daily Mail have found another couple for us to talk about.
According to the publication, Mancini’s men are looking at Brazilian centre back Marquinhos who is not only wanted by City but also being monitored by Barcelona. Should Mancini seriously desire the defender in the summer, he could have a massive fight on his hands in order to beat the Catalan giants to the post on that one.
Of course City being City, there is not just one individual they are looking at. The club are also in the market for another winger despite forgotten man Scott Sinclair now being more famous for dating television personality Helen Flanagan than his on-the-field efforts. City’s Italian tactician is now tracking Roma’s attacking midfielder Erik Lamela, who at the tender age of 20 has already been capped by Argentina and is becoming one of the most coveted prospects in European football.
Despite being linked to a fair few players, City are mindful of the problems the Financial Fair Play regulations could well pose for them and are eyeing not only summer acquisitions but a mass summer clear out and the aforementioned Scott Sinclair is reportedly top of that list.
