Manchester United travel to Istanbul next week to take on Turkish side Galatasaray. United have already topped the group with four wins out of four and two games left to play. Galatasaray, on the other hand, will be desperate for a result against United as they try to gain the advantage in a very close race for the second place spot in Group H.
United won the first group game between the two sides 1-0 with an early goal from Michael Carrick making the difference. However, the encounter was not an easy one for the Red Devils. Galatasaray’s tireless enthusiasm and zeal caused many problems for Alex Ferguson’s team, with the Turkish side hitting the woodwork twice and coming close to scoring on a few other occasions.
Fatih Terim and his players will have most likely felt hard done by not to have got a point at Old Trafford and will be keen to set the record straight in the return fixture. If Galatasaray can perform as well as they did in the previous game, then they could see their home advantage and a bit of luck turn into a dream result.
Galatasaray have scored 4 goals in 4 games in their Champions League campaign so far and all 4 have been scored by Burak Yilmaz so the striker will be vital to the team’s progression in the competition. If Yilmaz can continue his scoring run then I think Galatasaray are in with a chance. It’s amazing want the need for a good result can do for a team in the Champions League and Galatasaray really do need a result.
