My future is with Everton, says Fellani
Already in fine spirits after a late victory over Tottenham, Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were left raising a toast in celebration after The Sun journalist Geoff Sweet arrived to tell punters that star midfielder Marouane Fellaini has pledged his future to Everton.
The Belgian midfielder has been one of the stars of this exciting 2012/13 Premier League campaign and has scored five goals in his last six games. Given his excellent form for the Toffees there have been reports linking him with a move away from Goodison Park .
However Fellaini, who is under contract under 2016, told The Sun that he is only concentrating on life at Everton and is ready to play a part in their challenge for Champions League qualification.
He said: “Although I’m happy to be praised for my performances, my future is with Everton.
“I am pleased with my current form. There’s no secret to it — it’s a combination of luck, work and good positioning in the penalty area. I do what the forwards do… and score goals!”
Fellaini then stated his desire to take Everton back in Europe, saying: “We are playing well enough to fight for a European place, even the Champions League, but we must retain this rhythm all season.
“It won’t be easy but we want to do it — our fans deserve to have some more big European nights.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain are all reported to be interested in signing the 25-year-old midfielder, however Everton fans will hope that his statement will see him stay at Goodison Park until the end of his contract.
