coutinho.jpgIt is no shock to us at the Football Transfer Tavern that the Daily Mirror claim that Philippe Coutinho will become a Liverpool player in the next 24 hours.

The Inter Milan player has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and it seems that Brendan Rodgers has won the battle to land the highly rated Brazilian. Coutinho is expected to finalise a deal that will include and £8.5 million transfer fee – something Inter Milan claim they seriously need.

Nerazzurri chief Massimo Moratti is vieiwing the move as a positive, noting: “There are opportunities there to be seized. Sometimes certain players need the chance to play more. And that’s why I think this could be a great opportunity for a Coutinho, and a deal that could go very well for us too.”

The Brazilian midfielder will hope to link up with his new team mates before the weekend and make an impact as soon as he can on the Premier League to show why Liverpool have paid so much money for him. Not only that but Liverpool fans will be hoping that Coutinho will make a difference to the Reds and mean that they do not always have to rely on Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez – something as lamented by Brad Jones in the Daily Mail following the weekend’s shock FA Cup defeat to Oldham Athletic.

Liverpool fans. What do you think of Coutinho’s imminent arrival? Let us know your thoughts below.
